The waiting has ended.
So how much calories does our favorite modern day Filipino hero and champion, Manny "Pacman" Pacquio eats in a day especially during training and preparation for a boxing match?
According to a feature story in Livestrong website entitled "Manny Pacquiao. Best. Meal. Ever.", the 147 pounds Filipino champion eats about 7,000 calories!
The Average Filipino Calorie Consumption
What's initially surprising is that this huge amount of calories he consume on a daily basis during training days, has been part of his routine that won him 8 different weight divisions.
Galing di ba? His diet is part of his success!
The average Pinoy calorie consumption requirement is about 1500-2000 calories per day. Yung kay Manny is more than triple Manny's calorie number!
Teka nga muna. Ano ba yang Calorie na yan?
Calorie is the measure of how much is the energy in the food or liquid we intake. Calorie is also the amount of energy burned or lost whenever we do any physical or body activity.
Let's take a look at some of the common and popular food we eat and how much calorie does it have.
★ 1 serving of Tapsilog - 496 calories
★ skyflakes (3 crackers) - 120 calories
★ 1 cup of our favorite "rice" - 240 calories
★ Dalawang pakete ng pancit canton - 560 calories
★ Large frenchfries mcdo - 500 calories (with 25 grams of fat!)
★ Jollibee spaghetti - 560 calories
★ Grande size starbucks java chip frappuccino - 460 calories (with 18 grams of fat!)
★ 1 large coke - 187 calories
What's In It For You?
With the information above, you probably have already realized why it's so much easy to gain weight than to lose it! :)
Calorie is the fuel our body needs in order for us to perform our daily physical actions. Less physical activity means less calories burn. And less calorie burn while eating high amounts of calores is a very simple formule for overweight and obesity :)
If you are overweight or obese, I'm sure you eat much more calories than what you actually burn.
Kaya it's should not surprise you kung bakit 7000 calories ang kay Manny because he can easily burn 2500 calories in a sesson of workout.
So what can you do now?
Since in terms of physical working out, we are not Manny Pacquiao, 7000 calories is a sure fire way to obesity land!
What can you do is simple.
Watch what you eat.
Remember that the excess consumption of calories are actually converted into fat.
So if you want to start lose weight start making sure what you eat gets burned. Take long walks. Mag-park ka ng malayo para lalakad ka ng mas mahaba. Use the stairs instead of the elevator. Clean your house. Do simple stretching exercises. Play sports. Make love! Really there are numerous ways to burn calories.
One more thing...

Yesterday, I shouted out in FB about me trying out SMALL and X-SMALL size shirts in Human and Penshoppe stores in Glorietta Mall in Makati City.

(We need to be friends so you can view this story ^-^ Please add me at facebook.com/jervisjohn)
I also promised my friends in FB that I will share them a picture of me doing that! And I am not going away anywhere but here to fulfill that... So below are two images I captured using a camera phone and a little bit of instagram like postprocessing using PicYou.
Shirt size? Small or S
Fit? Definitely!
I used to only wear M or L size shirts.
Shirt size? Extra Small or XS
Fit? Yes!
My problem back then was a huge tummy or as "beer belly". My close friends know how big my tummy was.
Some of you maybe wondering how did I do that? Well that is one of the purpose of this blog. To educate about healthy lifestyle and empower you to achieve your dream body, as I have achieved mine! =)

If you don't look into your health, don't expect somebody else will.
When the time comes your health walks away from you, that's the time you will realize you're already running out of time to look into it.
In a 2009 DOH statistics report, there were 333,497 death cases from Hypertension. (reference: http://goo.gl/W8DSK ,page 360)
For me, taking care of your health is like taking care of your family, and your love ones. Staying healthy means being there ~ fit, light and happy for them. And that is called Love. Therefore,

My Journey to the Right Approach to Health
This is my personal journey when I took the right approach to a healthy living.
About six years ago, I was working then with Hitachi Global Storage Technologies in BiƱan Laguna. I was an engineer doing manufacturing work with expensive machines along-side line operators and technicians. It was my first job and I actually spent 5 years there before I headed to my next life. But during those times, I worked very very hard and exuded excellence in my efforts. So I was usually tired from work.
My daily life then was revolving around work-apartment-work-apartment cycle. The food choices and eating habits were “contained in a box”. I was limited with the options of what the food in the canteen had to offer – which were the same set of menu over the period of 5 years.
Work most of the time is strenuous and I can still remember countless times when I need to spend overnight in the factory just to settle issues at work.
Hypertension at 23
In one Saturday afternoon of August of 2005, I found myself lying on the floor just beside my office desk, catching my breath, feeling my head expand as if a balloon about to explode. The people beside me rushed to me, held me and carried me to the clinic. Soon thereafter, I was lying in a bed with one nurse checked my blood pressure and another served me a dose of blood pressure suprressant (I believe it was calcibloc that they used)
At the age of 23, I was diagnosed with hypertension and took about 2 weeks of rest.It was a wake-up call for me at the time. I was really unhealthy. The comments from the people I know were not helping either. In my opinion, a lot of young adults these days are also suffering from this whether they know it or not. Simply because, the lifestyle choice available for most people is always fast-paced, not so much of physical activity anymore, the food is fast-food and work is just sitting in an office desk for the entire day.
Looking back, I can’t believe myself taking maintenance medicines which obviously didn’t work for me. What I mean is it didn’t work because those medicines didn’t actually cure my illness. I took those medicines for 4 years and still my hypertension was not going away soon.
Since then, I strived to change. I have attempted to “change my lifestyle” because that is really the cure. I tried all known lifestyle change methods but I always find myself not succeeding.
I had a lot of excuses!
The food available is unhealthy. My environment is unsupportive – in the sense that all of the people in it are also unhealthy and eating unhealthy. The method is not sustainable. The method is not holistic and one-sided and sometimes ridiculous. Some are even expensive like in 2009 I enrolled myself in a year of gym membership in Makati only to get heavier when the subscription ended because it was just one-sided way of becoming healthy.
I became heavier and my clothes were getting smaller. Early last year, I had to get myself a new set of pants to fit my bulging waistline. My desire to be healthy and look healthy was slowly getting side-tracked and taken for granted.
I asked myself is there a way out there to become really healthy that is workable, simple to follow, and sustainable in the long run?
Losing Weight in TRA
Until, I jumped and committed myself to the TRA Program. When I first looked into it, TRA have a lot of guarantees:
~Lose weight by targeting the killer body fat.
~No “yoyo” effect or weight rebound.
~Increase muscle tissues.
~No exercise needed to make the program work!
~No undesirable side-effects (such as those from slimming teas ^_^)
~Never go-hungry. I won’t starve myself from the known definition of “dieting”.
~Be healthy.
For the first time in my life, I actually found what I was looking for.
For me, I found that the TRA program is really the most effective program to lose the fat in my body considering that I didn’t exercise to achieve the body and health I have now. What I like about it is that it has also proven itself to be safe because there were no undesirable effects unlike those I’ve experienced in slimming teas where I needed to take countless trips in the toilet.
Lose Fat Even After the TRA Program
Today even after the program, my eating habits have totally shifted. There is no way I would turn back to the old habits because I can actually eat my way to health. When people see me eat, they would notice the big difference in my plate even if it’s the same food that they eat.
I am 100% sure that in the weeks and months, my health will improve a lot more. And my body will look way better than ever! ;)
